Introducing: Janet Matthews, Assistant Support Worker, Community Homes

Janet-Matthews

Janet took a round-about path on her journey to Community Living but we are glad that she did – this fine lady has been with us for 25 years.

Janet started out working for an insurance company, at which she stayed for ten years before she was ready for a change. Her first steps towards out sector involved volunteering with a little boy who had FASD. She then volunteered in a day program in Scarborough and very much enjoyed what she did. She worked a part-time position there before moving to Peterborough. The rest, as they say, is history.

Janet worked with us several years as part-time in several of our Community Homes. Currently, she is and Assistant Support Worker with the same program. “I enjoy sharing peoples’ ups and downs of every day living. We have fun and laugh each and every day.”

“I am always meeting people who inspire me, and look forward to the challenges that come with the job,” says Janet. She tells us that it is CLTH’s dedication to the people we support , and to her job, that have kept her at the agency for a quarter-century.

“Who knows,” she laughs, “maybe I’ll do it for another 25 years!”
