Introducing: Cara Murtha, Early Childhood Resource Coordinator

profile-photo-of-caraMy name is Cara Murtha. It has always been a desire of mine to work with children.
When I had my own child in 2001, I went back to school to pursue an education in that field.

While obtaining my Early Childhood Education at Sir Sanford Fleming College, I did a speciality placement with the Early Learning Resource Team at Community Living. I learned so much in this placement, including the value of building authentic, positive relationships with children, families, educators, and community partners. This had a lasting impact on me, and my career, and I inspired to one day work in this position.

After graduating with my Early Childhood Education diploma, I continued my education and received my postgraduate as a Communication Disorder Assistant. The following twelve years I worked as an Early Childhood Educator in a variety of different roles and responsibilities, building my skills and experiences.

In March of 2016 a position became available at Community Living, and thankfully I was successful in being awarded a full-time position in the Early Learning Resource Program, as an Early Childhood Resource Coordinator.

I am so fortunate that I get to still work closely within the early childhood field and support the work that I am so passionate about. Going to work each day at Community Living Trent Highlands makes me realize how fortunate I really am, to work for such a wonderful organization – an organization that is an advocate for inclusion and recognizes the importance of professional growth and development for its employees.
