Independent Ethics Officer

The members of the Board of Directors of Community Living Trent Highlands (CLTH) are committed to quality, improvement and accountability. To this end, they have developed a whistle blower policy as part of the our governance structure. This policy augments the many internal processes for complaint resolution by offering an Independent Ethics Officer (IEO).

The role of the Independent Ethics Officer is to be removed from both the operations and governance of Community Living Trent Highlands – an impartial person who any stakeholder may contact with concerns. The IEO decides, based on the information provided, next steps in the complaint process.

The IEO is well versed in Community Living Trent Highlands policies and applicable legislation. (S)he has the authority to contract any professional investigatory or other follow-up resources as needed. The IEO may do so independently of CLTH management and board if necessary.

It is imperative to the success of Community Living Trent Highlands and our commitment to quality enhancement that various formal and informal avenues for feedback are offered to those in both the agency and the community. The Independent Ethics Officer is another resource in that continuum of options. The IEO is removed, impartial and committed to ensuring access to the resources needed to resolve a complaint.
