Introducing: Alison Rodriguez, Family Support Coordinator

I took the longer road to Community Living, via Mexico and Cuba. I worked as a destination rep there, liaising between the tourists and locals. My many duties included solving travel and accommodation crises, rescuing lost tourists and fishing the occasional lizard out of a toilet. I loved the problem-solving and helping that this position allowed me.

My next big adventure was social work, which lead me to the Peterborough Family Resource Centre, and then on to Big Brothers Big Sisters. Social work brought to me a multitude of new ways to make a difference in the lives of others, and I embraced that opportunity.

Then I joined Community Living as a part of the Family Support program, and I have never looked back. I am beyond grateful to be able to support families as they navigate increasingly complicated and ever-changing systems on behalf of their children. I have grown so much in my role, and continue to find copious ways to be of help. I am always learning from our families, and they bring me great joy.

My work is full of challenge and adventure. To be a part of the Family Support program, our inspiring and invincible team and this amazing organization is a blessing every day.
