Special Partnership: WalkAbout Farm & the Aston Family Foundation

Here at Community Living Trent Highlands, we have many partners with whom we work to carry out our mission and make our community the best that it can be. One of our special partners is Walkabout Farm Therapeutic Riding Association Inc..

Walkbout Farm is a non- profit organization based out of Minden offering therapeutic riding, youth outreach and horsemanship programs for children and adults with unique considerations, mental health concerns as well as those who are abled differently.

We have a three way partnership of sorts with Walkabout and the Aston Family Foundation. Walkabout Farms recently received $25,000 from the Foundation with our assistance.

From time to time, we’ll share photos with you from the farm. The first five photos below features Family Day 2019 and the new warming station that Walkabout Farm was able to acquire thanks to the Foundation’s funds. The warming station will be of great help towards year-round riding at the farm.

The last three photos and the one at the top of this story photos are from a presentation that Walkabout Farm’s owner and operator, Jennifer Semach, made to a group of young people who make up the group 100 Kids Who Care Haliburton. The presentation focused on community service, volunteering and Walkabout’s role in the community. Gerry Sutcliffe – the young man in the photos – however, stole the show with his enthusiasm, passion for the horses and sharing about his role Walkabout Farm. Jennifer told us it was very heartwarming experience all around.
