‘Local organizations’ refers to organizations and groups that provide services mainly in the areas that we serve – Peterborough, Haliburton County and the City of Kawartha Lakes.

211 Ontario is a helpline that easily connects people to the social services, programs and community supports they need.

988 is a high quality, evidence-based, equitable suicide prevention and crisis support for everyone in Canada. People seeking support can call or text the number for help. We have included 988 because its services are sourced locally.

Alternatives Community Program Services helps people living with developmental disabilities to realize their full potential through employment, volunteerism, recreation and community involvement.

Alzheimer Society of Peterborough, Kawartha Lakes, Northumberland & Haliburton is dedicated to improving the quality of life for those living with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.

A Place Called Home provides shelter and access to support services for people who are homeless.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kawartha Lakes – Haliburton promotes and monitors long-term supportive friendships for children who would benefit from quality relationships with caring adults.

Boys and Girls Clubs of Kawartha Lakes is dedicated to the personal growth and development of children and youth.

Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge provides mental health support and related services in the community.

Canopy Support Services provides counselling and other services to people with intellectual disabilities and their caregivers.

Casa De Angelae, in partnership with Community Living Trent Highlands, provides a permanent home in Peterborough for women living with developmental disabilities, allowing them to live in a safe, supportive, family environment.

Central East Local Health Integration Networks (LHINs) coordinates health care services offered at home, at school and in the community, as well as managing access to supported living programs and long-term care.

Children’s Aid Society (CAS) is mandated ensure that children in our community are safe.

Children’s Services Council facilitates the coordination of services for children and youth who have complex needs and live in the City of Kawartha Lakes or Haliburton.

Christian Horizons works with people living with disabilities to accomplish their goals and nurture communities in which everybody belongs. The Central East District office runs out of Peterborough.

Community Care City of Kawartha Lakes provides home support services to seniors and people with special needs.

Community Care Peterborough provides a variety of essential services to seniors as well as adults with physical challenges.

Heads Up for Inclusion is a high school inclusion project started by the mother of a child living with a disability and is located in Peterborough.

Job Quest brings together people who are looking for work and employers who need trained, skilled workers. Job Quest is a division of Community Living Trent Highlands.

John Howard Societies of Kawartha Lakes & Haliburton and Peterborough offer programs that aim to reduce repeat offences among people who have been in trouble with the law, and to prevent delinquent behaviour among youth who may be at risk of offending.

Kinark Child and Family Services is a children’s mental health organization providing support to children, youth and families.
